Sevierville and Knoxville, Tn

Well, we found a campsite in the little town of Dandridge, Tn. We fixed dinner, set up camp and settled down for the evening. The next morning we set out to visit Sevierville, in case you did not know is Dolly Parton’s home town. I know, you probably got all excited. The little town is like a lot of little towns in that there just isn’t much there. We hadn’t eaten so we stopped at a donut shop on the town square and had coffee and donuts. The coffee was good and service friendly but Dunkin Donuts has them beat. We just had to take a picture of Dolly in the town square.

We we then headed to Knoxville. Knoxville does have a nice free trolley system to get you around town. We road 2 of the 4 lines which covered what we wanted to see. It did a great tour of the University of Tennessee campus.  They also had plenty of free parking garages. We first headed to old town. We were disappointed in that we expecting there to be more shops and restaurants, however it looked pretty run down and looked like it may cater more to the nightclub customers.

We stopped in the 4th Market Cafe and had lunch and met some great servers. After learning we were heading for Kentucky, they suggested we go to Lexington.

We spent some time looking into various campgrounds but just couldn’t lock in on exactly where we wanted to go. There is not a big selection and none of them had very good reviews. The ones we liked best were all west of Lexington, so for the moment we are in a Walmart parking lot. We just finished dinner and we will probably stay here tonight and settle on a campground tomorrow.  Lexington has several things we want to see so we will probably be in the area until Sunday.  Tomorrow should be more interesting as we do the Distilleries and downtown Lexington.
