The trip from Branson (Missouri) to Salina (Kansas) was uneventful, unfortunately we were unable to stop in Kansas City so I just took a couple of photos from the RV as we went through town. We arrived in Salina about 5 PM yesterday. We made a quick dinner of leftover cold cuts, played dominoes and got to bed about 12:30 am.
Today is our 25th wedding anniversary. We spent the day visiting the Strataca Salt mine and the Cosmosphere Aerospace museum, both located in Hutchinson, KS, and both very interesting. We took an elevator 650 ft. below the surface to the salt mine. Very interesting and they have over 65,000 square feet of space that is used for storage by numerous businesses as the salt mine provides a perfect temperature and humidity level. The movie industry is a major customer. The Aerospace museum was surprisingly large with multiple levels. They had a significant number of original aircraft, space craft and historical documents. We returned to Salina and had some BBQ at a small place called the Hickory Hut which was very good. It was still about 95 degrees when we got back to the campground, so too hot to do much outside so Steve cleaned the bugs from the windows and we will leave the big cleaning job for when we arrive in Colorado Springs where it is expected to be much cooler.
We will be on the road early tomorrow as we have about a 7 hour drive. A little more than what we like but we should get in before dark.
Today was hot as I previously mentioned but the humidity is very low (about 30%), weather in Colorado Springs will be in the 70’s but raining, hopefully that will clear up. There are many things to see and do so we are currently scheduled to be there for a week but we will have to see how much we can do if the weather doesn’t clear up.
That pretty much brings us up to date, here are a few pictures from yesterday and today.
